Third Moon
Bloodforsaken

Quite a pleasant discovery from the increasingly impressive Napalm Records, Third Moon rise forth from the untapped talent well of Austria. Difficult to classify, but definitely melodic death metal in the Swedish vein, they ache of Lunar Strain In Flames, modern Hypocrisy, Naglfar, and dare I say – Intestine Baalism. This palette is super crunchy, mid tempo and NWOSDM-veined metal, complete with the customary melodic leads and solos. Bloodforsaken conveys all the undercurrents of a mature, veteran extreme metal act. Third Moon is aware of how to entice the listener with catchy licks, raging power, and a subdued professionalism; something most new acts clearly lack. “Fractured Abandonment,” “Costal Angels” and “Third Moon” strike up memories of yester-year In Flames, by composing harmonious, straight forward songs based around one or two delicious guitar patterns or riffs. Everything, sans the horrendous cover, is professional about the band, including the stylish use of acoustic guitar interludes and gorgeous intros. Third Moon is not seeking perfection, but exemplary and pleasing death metal, which is exactly what boils beneath Bloodforsaken.
