I knew some HM2 boss pedals had made their way to South and Central America by way of Zombiefication and Nocturnal Hollow, but it appears some have made to all the way to Chile and they are used to full effect on the band’s impressive homage laden second album.
It’s clear immediately (after a short intro) from the opening salvo of ” Nihilistic Automata”, the band’s influence is firmly rooted in Nihilist and Entombed’s Left Hand Path, and it’s not subtle at all, as the track reeks of the albums classic opener “Drowned”, and has a very familiar late song riff.
The next 13, generally shorter stabs all deliver pure homage to that album as well as hints of Clandestine and other genre legends, but this is pretty Left Hand Path heavy in its splendidly buzzing guitar tone and riffs. Vocalist/bassist JH Wilschrey has a familiar LG Petrov/ Matti Karki gruff bark as well, to top everything off.
None of it is truly great are there are no killer, standout tracks, but tracks like “God Forsaken”, rumbling “Deceiving Tyranny Manifesto”, “Protect the Coven” “Evolutive Slaves” and “Hideous Manifestation” are all solid nods to the style and contain more than enough familiar nods to that seminal album (short interlude “Nameless Ritual” recalls the famous Phantasm music) and the genre. It’s generally well done, simple, honest, and energetic and makes no bones about its desired influence and sound.
