Speed… speed… and more SPEEEEEEEDDDDD!!! That’s what you should expect out of the 3rd LP from this Italian brutal death metal quintet. They want to play as fast as possible, and fast they most definitely can do.
I remember this band from their last full length, Degenerating Anthropophagical Euphoria, which was a good album, but really didn’t have much staying power. You could make the same argument against this newest one, but after a few spins this one is overall a good bit tighter and better written. The songs vary just enough, and repeated listens will find the album opening up more and more. The riffs, palm mutes, pinch harmonics, and blast beats continue to hit with knockout level volume and ferocity, with no boring intros or instrumentals to slow down this rumbling beast. In fact, the only semi-break that you will get is track 6, “Mortifying Carnality”, which sees the band move to more of the slam end of the genre, and it’s a welcome contrast and adds a nice groovier change of pace. But the final 2 tracks go back to the aural speed assault so the break is definitely short lived.
Any fan of the Origin/Omnihility school of “fast as hell” death metal will love this one. The album as a whole is 8 tracks at just over 26 minutes total, which is just about right for this style. The production is very solid, which helps with the discernment in the wall of sound that you’re bombarded with and ups the overall enjoyment of something so violent. They’re not breaking any new ground with this one, but they chose one angle and have pulled it off very well.
