I rather enjoyed this bands second effort, 2013s Atonement, but the band waited a little long for a follow up ( four years is an eternity for brutal death metal), so me waiting a few months to get a review out is excusable. But not much appears to have changed. The band are as brutal as ever, even with a change in guitarist, and they also seemed to have discovered bass drops.
But it’s not perfect. Maybe in light of other recent monsters from the Italian scene from Ade, Antropofagus, Blasphemer, Deceptionist, Hour of Penance, Hideous Divinity and others, Logic of Denial seem to be trying a little too hard to be as broodle as humanly possibly with the over produced and over used bass drops, and the song writing has suffered a little.
Now it’s not as purely non stop as the latest Devangelic, but is certainly checks all the Comatose and Italian brutal death metal boxes. It’s got guttural vocals, a thick production, a pummeling rhythm section and a ferocious proficiency the Italians seemed to have utterly mastered. Tracks don’t really stand out, but the likes of “Assenza (The Sufferance Overture)”, the more varied 7 minute “The Decaying Drama (Pt. I: Quietus – Pt. II: Antinferno)” churning “Defilement” or closer “Euphoric Abhorrent Synthesis” show a little more variety in the style. But if you want full out, skin peeling Italian ferocity, the relentless “Gorging on Innocence”, “Larvae of Eden” and “Immaculate” will take your fucking head off.
That said, This and Antropofagus’ M.O.R.T.E, are arguably the cream of the Italian 2017 crop, but there needs to start being some separation and less cross breeding between the bands to keep them from becoming stale and maybe someone does something a little different in the future to break from the pack in 2018 and beyond.

With this album, while good, they need to get a human drummer. The drum machine on this and the last album, is not doing the band any favors. I do like the bass drops. Nice review.
on Nov 28th, 2017 at 12:39This one was a MASSIVE disappointment, especially considering their last one which was more technical while keeping the brutality. Now they’re just another run of the mill brutal death band.
