I’ve heard of Lividity, veterans of the Chicago/Illinois brutal death metal scene since the mid 90s, but have not really heard them or owned any of their albums. Ive seen them lumped in with the likes of Gorgasm to Cannibal Corpse and of course Deaden and Broken Hope, and after hearing the band’s 6th album, Perveseverance, I’d say that is pretty accurate.
There isn’t much else going on here other than enjoyable, competent brutal USDM. Lots of samples, lots of blast beats, deep growls and screams, misogynistic themes and expected song titles like ” Kill Then Fuck”, “The Pussy Horde”, “Cumming With Labial Pulp”, and “Bitch Cunt Fuck”. It’s got a punchy tight production that definitely reminds me of Broken Hope‘s 90s/00s offerings and even some decent leads and solos.
In an era on boundary pushing music and genre defying death metal, like say, Chapel of Disease, Alkaloid, Bolzer and such, I can appreciate this sort of blunt force old school simple brutality. It hits the spot with bludgeoning pinch harmonic blasts and a few groovier, hefty moments like the surprisingly melodic and restrained “Meat for the Beast”, “Whore Destroyer” or “Pussy Lover-Salvation “.
That said, I’m not sure this would be my go to release or band when craving this sort of porno death/gore grinding brutality as there are so many options, but its a solid slab of sonic depravity that should appease all death metal misogynists out there.

I like these guys. They put on a pretty entertaining live show. Liking what I hear so far of this one, old school, ain’t broke don’t fix gore/porn death.
