Was there really such a demand for the video from Lair of the Minotaur’s last album that it has to be put out on DVD with unrated and TV edit versions?
Apparently so, so Southern Lord has put both versions of Gary Smithson’s video on a DVD along with behind the scenes interviews and footage, a making of featurette and as 10 live tracks from various locations all over the world over the last 5 years.
For those who have not seen the video (its available here -or all over youtube) is a testosterone fueled take on Conan the Barbarian styled machismo with heavily muscled barbarians, naked vampire chicks (or Keres) and a whole lot of blood and guts. It’s the stuff of pure metal and fitting for the bands style, but I’m not sure I’d pay money for it.
The 10 audio tracks from 2004-2008 covering all three of the bands albums were recorded from the bands hometown in Chicago all the way to France and Austria, and all appear to have been shot on home video by friends of the band and its hardly good sound or visual quality, but I’d expect no less from this noisy, raw trio and their chosen sound.
The behind the scenes seems to focus on various shots of the naked women and how they got all bloody and little else while the featurette is all home video footage of the shoot and yet more footage of how the nekkid women became blood-soaked.
Ultimately though, unless blood covered women are your fetish, there’s not much need for this DVD regardless of how cheap it is, even if the video was banned in 31 countries.

Thanks for the warning. I buy a good number of metal DVDs, but I’ll pass on this one.
