Just what I needed – something to tear into.
Interrogate play what’s basically nu-metal trying it’s best to disguise itself as groove based death/thrash, but fails miserably. Angsty, simple and meat-headed sum it up pretty good. There’s also gratuitous use of the word ‘fuck’, which doesn’t do it any favors. It’s funny because ‘fuck’ is one of my favorite words, and I use it on a regular, day to day basis, but for some reason, I don’t like to hear it in my music. It just comes off as unnecessary, and seemingly directed at 13-16 year olds everywhere who are mad at mommy and daddy.
8 songs of repetition comprise Scarred for Life. Occasionally, they throw in some amateurish clean vocals (album opener “Victim” and “Fall From Grace” which is almost completely comprised of them). Most of the songs come off as a really weak and watered down version of Chaos A.D./Roots era Sepultura, Soufly, Machine Head and/or Pantera – take your pick. It’s probably an amalgamation of all of them, but as I said, really watered down.
There’s nothing good to say about this one. It just sucks, and that’s not something I say about many bands – it’s truly just crap. The vocals suck, the guitars suck, the drums suck, the bass (which is actually audible) sucks. Avoid this shit like the plague.
