Ive always been a fan of the underrated Danish death metal scene; Chunky, simple (and often intertwined) acts like Illdisposed, Iniquity, Corpus Mortale, Usipian, Koldborn, The Cleansing, and arguably one of the better recent additions, Dawn of Demise.
After a solid debut in 2008s Hate Will Take Its Form and a cover based EP in 2009s Lacerated, the relatively prolific Dawn of Demise return with their second full length album, the aptly titled, A Force Unstoppable. And make no bones, it’s not the fastest, most technical or most original album you’ll hear in 2010, but for 35 minutes, its will be one of the more effective and enjoyable bruisefests of 2010.
Still armed with the slamming backbone of Suffocation, a dash of Jungle Rot simplicity and their innate Danish chunk, Dawn of Demise aren’t out to wow you with their skill or complexity but bludgeon you with massive grooves, double bass rumbles and Scott Jensen’s deep roars and bellows. None of the tracks are going to reinvent death metal but many of them such as the trio of “Awaken the Aggressor”, “Amongst the Tortured” and certainly the monstrous mid paced rumble of suitably named closer “Juggernaut” are going to make you snap your neck with and authoritative delivery that makes no pretenses about being anything else.

Very solid album… not as good as the new Annotations of an Autopsy but very good nonetheless…
on Feb 16th, 2010 at 01:04Damn solid indeed. I’m normally put off by most modern DM releases but this one is going down just fine. Maybe it’s because the guitarists don’t have ridiculously gauged ear piercings.
on Feb 16th, 2010 at 02:45I find this band kinda boring and bland..
on Feb 17th, 2010 at 04:21Love this band and this album. The only way this is boring is if you go in expecting to hear something along the lines of Obscura. If you’re looking for groove and cruncha-muncha riffs then this is it.
