Ugh.
So now the Italians are jumping on the emo/metalcore bandwagon with a blatant Atreyu meets pop punk (Green Day, Yellowcard, etc) rip off in the form of Airway, who with their first full length album (after an EP of course) deliver the expected level of ot Topic teeny core suckage.
Folks, unless you like most of Victory’s more emo roster, don’t even read this, just don’t. However. I’ll admit for the style it is , its not too bad-it’s catchy, peppy with just enough teen angst, full of sing along choruses, sugary riffs and just enough screams and KSE styled dual guitars to make it appeal to emo’s heavier end. However, it’s such a laughably clichéd international take on obvious influences, it loses almost all its credibility.
Also hindering the effort are clean vocals, which are just heinous –super whiny and nasal, despite the frequent use of decent off setting screams. That being said tracks like “The Answer”, “Sinkin’ Down” and even the lyrically sickening “Springtime” did actually get my head bopping, until the clean singing started.
Just sign to Victory already and get your merch to Hot Topic.
Now go read my Atavist review to purge yourself of this contrived shite.
