Anette Olzon and NIGHTWISH part ways
Tarja Turunen left Nightwish due to bloated, bruised egos and it seems that the same has happened today, with Annette Olzon announcing her departure from the band’s line-up.
Another chapter of the Nightwish story has ended today. Nightwish and Anette Olzon have decided to part company, in mutual understanding, for the good of all parties involved.
The speculation started few days ago in Denver after Olzon complained about the band performing live without her while she was suffering from a medical condition (read: flu). Nightwish contemplated canceling the show but instead, had Kamelot‘s background singers Elize Ryd and Alissa White-Gluz perform with them. This didn’t set well with Olzon who wrote in her blog:
… I was never asked if it was ok they used Elise and Alica in the show last night. I don’t think it’s a good decision they made and I’m sorry for those of you who came to see the whole band but got something else. But I was very ill and this decision wasn’t mine. Tonight I’ll be on stage doing my best despite illness:-) See u in some hours!!
Another one bites the dust it seems and Nightwish claim yet another ego. Needless to say, we here at Teeth of the Divine remain absolutely shocked by these events and encourage those, who are going through the same motions, to call their local suicide watch helpline for, well, help if the need arises. In the mean time, Nightwish are to carry their tour (or parts of it) with Floor Jansen at the helm.
Next up, job openings…
