Abigail Williams Complete Work on Debut Album
Abigail Williams has completed work on their full-length debut album titled In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns. Produced by James Murphy and featuring contributions from Trym Torson (Emperor/Zyklon), the album has been confirmed for an October 28 American release. “We couldn’t be happier with the results,” says vocalist Sorceron in review of the recordings progress. “The addition of Trym’s legendary drumming and the experience on the production/mixing end that James brought to us has been priceless. This album wholly eclipses everything we’ve recorded in the past and we can’t wait to begin playing the new material live.”
An intense project with recording and tracking beginning in January of this year, In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns features nine new songs from the band currently featuring keyboardist Ellyllon, bassist Plaguehammer, guitarists Matt Brown and Bjornthor, drummer Samus with band founder/vocalist Sorceron. With over 15,000 units sold of the band’s 2007 ep, Legend, and 1.5 million hits to their popular MySpace page, all eyes and ears are awaiting the first sounds of the new material. Confirmed song titles are: I, The World Beyond, Acolytes, A Thousand Suns, Into the Ashes, Smoke and Mirrors, A Semblance of Life, Empyrean: Into the Cold Wastes, Floods, The Departure.
Abigail Williams have been a focus of attention for both fans and critics since their formation in Phoenix, Arizona several years back. Kerrang! says, “Abigail Williams have taken fresh-faced metal down the left hand path… the result is obscenely exciting.” Blabbermouth adds, “Legend lays a firm foundation for greatness to come.” The band have toured the US and Europe several times in the last 18 months and were hand-picked to open for Emperor at their sold-out performance in Los Angeles (House of Blues) in July of 2006.
Currently participating on this summer’s Thrash and Burn tour, also featuring Arsis, Misery Signals, Parkway Drive and headliner Darkest Hour, Abigail Williams is expected to remain on the road through the remainder of 2008.
