Visceral Disgorge
Slithering Evisceration

Baltimore’s brutal death metal band, Visceral Disgorge, burst onto the scene in 2011 with their scorching debut album-Ingesting Putridity.  I was an instant believer and reviewed the album, gave it high marks and interviewed the singer Travis Werner.   After meeting Travis at a local show and witnessing their brutal live performance we struck up convo and I have gotten a chance to see the band live many times, hang with Travis and have some cool convos.

The band was kind of going back n forth with labels years ago, then a variety of members coming and going and armed with a new label, Poland’s awesome Agonia Records Visceral Disgorge’s second album Slithering Evisceration finally is out-about goddamned time.  This was only released a few months ago but was definitely one of my favorite brutal death metal albums for 2019-no doubt.  Joining Travis, is Billy Denne on drums, Randy Henry on Bass, Steve Miles and Charlie Marvel on guitar.

The debut, Ingesting Putridity had longer songs and had a bassier production and with Slithering Evisceration, Visceral Disgorge, have streamlined their songs with 9 songs in 31 minutes.  Therefore there is no time to waste and after the brief instrumental title track which actually is really killer, “Fucked into Oblivion” comes roaring through your speakers and is beyond brutal.  Monster blasting with some killer pinch harmonic squealing going on to carve you up, pick you up and body slam your useless body from here to around the corner from Joe’s Pizza and Biscuits.  Travis has one of the best brutal gurgling death metal vocals out there and he is crushing in at the master slam groove around 2/3 into the song.

Expect monster, ridiculous triggered as fuck double bass-but that’s what the style of music, nowadays calls for with productions.  The rolling drums are super tight and the fast guitar riffing over the blasts are not devoid of melody.  Plenty of creativity as the brutality is really endless.  Beyond punishing.  If there is a body standing alive in the pit at the 3 minute mark and when the part alternated between the slams and blasting, then the pit is not a pit and is really a collection of mannequins.  I say this because this moment is violent.  “Siphoning Cosmic Sentience” conjures up pure filth with the monster slam in the beginning.  It’s so disgustingly violent and heavy and then right into the brutal blast then back into the thunderous slam.  It’s terrifically brutal and nonstop violent brutality.  “Saprogenic Deformation” again with the rolling blasts and monster slams are divine.  The slow down at the 53 second mark and sliding guitar melody and then back into the blast will have you swinging all damn day.

The rest of Slithering Evisceration follows along the same formula.  Brutal blasts, monster groove slams, disgusting filthy clogged sewer pie stylized vocals and you have the makings of Visceral Disgorge really making a statement with this wayyyyyyy long overdue album.  The band have committed to touring as well.  They took part in the 2018 Suffocation tour and last year were on the Bloodletting tour alongside DisentombVisceral Disgorge have taken part in overseas shows and they are also very present throughout the various social media outlets.  All of this is propelling the band further and they do well with their music being streamed, in terms of sheer numbers.

I am proud of Travis and the rest of Visceral Disgorge. Slithering Evisceration has a monster production, has quite a lot of catchy and creative ideas alongside the sheer amount of brutality.  Take notice folks.  Without a doubt Visceral Disgorge are back to being one of the best brutal death metal bands out there-laying complete waste to many others who have been writing this style for much longer.  Buy or Die!
