KHNVM
Visions Of a Plague Ridden Sky

One of my favorite things to ask people when they wanted to haggle over the pricing at the stores I worked at was “do you think you’re in an open market in Bangladesh”? You might gasp, how dare you ask a customer that?! Then ask yourself if you’ve ever done it…

Anyhoo all kidding aside, Bangladesh and Germany have joined forces with KHNVM and holy fucking shit are they good. Think of the first time you heard Nile, or Malevolent Creation, then you’re in the right place. Because Visions of a PlagueRidden Sky is a fucking raging tsunami of prime Death Metal and traditional Bangladeshi music combined into an unstoppable force of destruction.

From opener “Awakening the Inner Alchemy Pt. 1” with its rumbling double bass blasting and shredding guitars, hitting like a rampaging elephant, to the fantastic title track that segues into one of the most remarkable pieces of music I’ve heard on a Death Metal album “Hourglass of Deception 1” is unbelievably heavy, reminiscent of Varmia and their instrumental sections “From the Depths of Duat” has a crushing riff around the 2.06 mark that’ll blow you away. “Grand Evisceration” sneaks in with a savage Bolt Thrower style rumbler followed by “The Hourglass of Deception 2” a brutal Bangladeshi beat down. I must say that the crystal clear production goes a long way to make this a stellar Death Metal release.

Mighty riffs and originality have carved a path for KHNVM. I recommend going back and checking out their first two albums. This is a top five release in a year that has seen several amazing modern Death Metal releases from new and established bands.

So, if you dig Bolt Thrower, Nile, Malevolent Creation and Melechesh I’m pretty sure you’ll like this. Get it, got it, good.
