Germany’s Goregast have been at it since 2005, with 3 full length albums to their name including 2011s Desechos Humanos. They ply a form of slightly Swedish inspired death metal with some grindcore elements with lyrics in English, German and Spanish.
Covered In Skin is a 10 minute, 3 song EP that was originally released on 7″ vinyl in 2013 with just 2 songs (“Covered in Skin” and “Mindcreeper”), but the CD release adds a song; a cover of Grave’s ‘Soulless’- always a good choice and shows the band have an eye for cover as they covered Brujeria’s “Matando gueros” on their 2005 debut Viva La Animal.
I’m not sure if this is worth the $$, (or even the effort for FDA to repress, unless its some sort of contractual obligation) for a mere 13 minutes of music, but what you get is a burly mid paced chugger in the EP’s title track and a more fierce blaster in “Mindcreeper”. The Grave cover is pretty much note for note and really doesn’t add anything new, but its such a perfect song, so why bother?
