Fully Consumed
Incendium
()

Hailing from Ohio, this is TON’S, Jeff Shepler’s other band, Fully Consumed.  The band is labeled as technical death metal.  I found the band to be more straightforward brutal death metal.  Think Gorgasm/Lividity/(early)Deeds of Flesh  type of stuff.

I really love TON and their new album, but I’m not the biggest fan of Fully Consumed’s Incendium.  And Jeff, brother, I know you sent this to me and I hate to give this not the best review, but I have to be honest.  I was listening to this and was thinking what’s the point of this album?  I say this only because why be in 2 death metal bands that are not so far removed from one another? Now I can see being in 2 different types of bands, that play different styles, but these genres of TON and Fully Consumed are basically in the same category.  While TON focuses on brutal blasts, they mix in tremendous pit grooves and an originality factor that is rare in death metal.  Fully Consumed, Incendium being their second album, throws in tons of blasts, with the same drum pattern over and over.

“Engaging Ghosts”, is fairly interesting, with some really nice guitar melodies and interesting parts, towards the end.  But that same freaking blast beat over and over, I want to bash my goddamned head against the wall.  I like “Numb Nation”, too.  Has this cool wave like pit moving slow part.  Should be more of these tempo shifts on this album.

Fully Consumed is unsigned, at the moment, with labels like Sevared Records helping to disto the cd-r.  The layout has lyrics.  I love my brutal death metal, you all know that, but this album sounds like a lot of other brutal death metal bands, at the moment, but less memorable.  Not feeling this album, at all.
