Feto In Fetus
Condemned to the Torture Chamber

Like the Embludgeonment album, this is another Frank Rini special, recommended to me way after the fact, but certainly worth my and your time. Hailing from Poland, Feto In Fetus is a death metal/grindcore band  and this is their second album, and its a scorching album that throws out some killer Belgian/European styled chunky death metal injected  with grindcore fury in bite sized chunks (literally).

I hear some Aborted, some Deranged, some Swede-styled grind (Nasum/Rotten Sound/Gadget,etc) and the whole things comes together into a burly, furious 18 track, 32 minute bludgeoning that certainly got overlooked in 2013, but you should definitely check this under rated release out now.

Condemned to the Torture Chamber does everything right with a snarling confidence. From the razor sharp guitar tone, beefy rhythm section, deep vocals, scathing blasts and huge grooves. The only real misstep is the use of some weird old timey, Hammer horror sounding horror themed samples that belong on a ‘horrorcore’ album. And I know that samples have long been a staple of grindcore, but these just seem a bit out of place next to the utterly furious material- some other more brutal and modern samples might have fit in better ( for example atmospheric the closer “The Mist” seems much more fitting).

But the music itself is utterly vicious. From seething “Collection of Dead Heads”, controlled bluster of “Source of Evil”, pure grind burst of “Sea of Deception”, 13 second “The Swarm”, to the steady lurch of “Convict” and penultimate bruiser “Pierced With Nails”, the album simply rips. But it’s not mere burp, squeal and brutality for brutality’s sake, because for all the raging blasts (“Funeral”)  and beefy grooves (“Violation of Dignity”) , there is a surgical, precise lethality on display here that really gave me the Deranged feeling, rather than a more loose, punky style of grindcore and results in one of the more satisfying, savage albums I have heard recently.

at first I thought this was Fist in Fetus, who also mash up grindcore w/ horror movie samples and symphonic music and other craziness. but they’re from Finland, and probably disbanded by now. will have to check this out regardless.

Haven’t heard this but I got their 1st album in the bargain bin. Worth it, I thought it was pretty good, extremely heavy. Fans of death metal and goregrind would definitely be into it.
