2008 saw the emergence of this Arizona based guttural death metal act, that due to line-up troubles saw the band almost breaking up. Necrambulant put the pieces back together and their signing to Lacerated Enemy Records helped bring about Infernal Infectious Necro-Ambulatory Pandemic, their debut album.

If you have bands like Epicardiectomy, Abominable Putridity or Coprocephalic in your collection than add Necrambulant to that list NOW! This is one of the heaviest slam death metal albums that has been released, trust me. “Epoch of Nihilisitc Cosmic Failure” opens the album and is 6 minutes in nature, something slam songs usually stray away from, the long songs. This is a slamfest the entire time. “Dysmorphic Evisceration of Avulsed Souls by the Baleful Spawn of the Primeval Protogenoi” is next and trust me, don’t ask me to say this song even 2x in a row. The 50 second part features a real nice bass guitar moment that goes into a stupidly heavy slam. The 3.20 part has some pinch harmonics in there over the massive double bass drum slam part. The title track has an amazing guitar riff and it’s great to have the drums sound so organic and not over the top triggering or over produced.

Now onto the vocals. Erik, Teeth of the Divine, owner said to me “are those even lyrics?” My response; “doubtful”. Hey, as a singer and being able to pick out usually some lyrics in even the most guttural of releases, I cannot pick out anything resembling close to lyrics on this. No lyrics were included in this, for good measure. The vocals serve more as an instrument, adding to the overall slamming brutality this album creates. To give you a more descriptive summary of the vocals here goes. The vocals are more akin to after eating at McDonald’s you have a triple flusher of a bathroom visit that needs to be plunged from top to bottom. And you know what? – I love the vocals on this, I cannot imagine Necrambulant having any other vocal style. They’re disgusting, filthy and brutal.

The album cover is a fantastic zombie scene that is not for the faint of heart. What I recommend you doing is while partaking in a McDonald’s triple flusher is to have Infernal Infectious Necro-Ambulatory Pandemic cranking so as to induce even more bowel eruptions, for full effect. This is a monstrously heavy and addicting album.
