Celebrated Athens, OH metal band Skeletonwitch has announced U.S. tour dates in support of its recently-released album, Beyond the Permafrost. The scheduled three week trek will include a high profile appearance as part of the 2008 New England Metal & Hardcore Festival on April 26 in Worcester, MA.

Proudly waving the NWOBHM flag while uniting the purity and aggression of the 80s Bay-Area thrash scene with elements of black and Viking metal, the sound of Skeletonwitch is a dark, dynamic onslaught. The members of “The Witch” are bonded by the universal truth, that “heavy metal is the law”; the band’s not-to-be-missed live shows include a wicked spectacle of duel flying Vs, roaring Marshall stacks, the “spirit of ‘86” and riffs that race like the wind.

First introduced via 2004’s independently released At One with the Shadows album and 2006’s Worship the Witch EP, Skeletonwitch’s retro-fitted, yet modernly executed creative vision arguably reached a new level of potency with the release of the album Beyond the Permafrost. Released in October, 2007, Beyond the Permafrost’s high-energy combination of sheer ferocity and white-knuckled velocity met to enthusiastic acclaim and drove the record to the top of many year-end “Best Album” lists. The band has been called “a death-thrash-power-metal beast” that delivers “the catchiest guitar duals recently put to tape.”

Skeletonwitch features Nate Garnette (guitar), Scott Hedrick (guitar), Eric Harris (bass), Derrick Nau (drums) and vocalist Chance Garnette.
