Fear Of God, the good Swiss one, not the homoerotic thrash band of the same name from the US.

Homoerotic? How so?

they're super-gay. metal-archives thinks they're ok to put on the archives but the Swiss one is too punk for the site. I hate m-a.

You know they had a female lead singer, right? I guess you could say that made their music somewhat feminine but not gay. I have their last full-length album and it sounds like Obituary but with deranged female vocals. I don't usually like harsh female vocals but her voice sounded truly disturbed and haunting.

Self Mutilation and Machinery were fun records as well. Man I gotta dig this stuff up.

I remember Diabolical from Sweden... A Thousand Deaths is a great fucking album !

Fear Of God (US) had Dawn Crosby as their singer. She was also in the great thrash/speed metal band Detente from the '80s. The Swiss Fear Of God were not really metal, so I can see why MA would not have them listed, although they're genre nazis over there anyways.

Funny you mention them, because I just discovered these guys recently. Been digging the "Yes" album a lot.

I like your taste in music...seems like you'll try just about anything...always a good thing...

One needs to have varied tastes, that way no genre ever gets boring and you always listen to stuff with a fresh set of ears. I've gotta thank you for one of my most interesting musical discoveries of late, Isten Hata Mogott. Any other bands like them that you could share with good ol' Cynny? He'll give ya sweets if you help him out. *Honks clown nose* THEY ALL FLOAT DOWN HERE!!!!

Believe it or not I also got to see his first/other band Treat Her Right ('I think she likes me that's what I think') at a free outdoor show in Boston while killing time before a Faith No More club gig.

I wish. Heard they were a killer show everywhere they played. Too bad there's no one out there that plays their style quite as well. Closest thing was Soul Coughing, imo, but they've broken up too.

Love this band. Its a shame Marco Kehren has called it quits. He was also the vocalist on Bethlehem's SUIZID album too for thems that doesn't know.

I have Ark of Thought and the self-titled but I haven't had much desire to explore the rest. Am I missing out?

You? Of course you are! This band's tailor-made for you, gor. Start with The Silence Of December and work your way upwards. RIGHT NOW!!!!!! DO IT, DO IT, DO IT (In Ben Stiller's Starsky voice)

I love that "sharks patrol these waters" song, didn't the singer die on stage a few years ago?

Yeah Mark Sandman had a heart attack on stage in 1999.

I never got to see Soul Coughing, but I did see M. Doughty do a solo show a few years ago.

so what? it doesn't make them good. I like thrash, even stuff like Holy Moses (who also have a female singer). The Dawn Crosby-fronted FOG is just trash.

I wasn't saying that makes them good. Your homoerotic comment made me think that maybe you thought it was a dude.

I don't know why I stopped following them. I loved those two albums when I got them. I'll have to do some catching up soon. I doubt I'll be able to find those early albums for a reasonable price, though.

No, I can't think of any other band similar to IHM at the moment. Their overall style is unique. So savor it and spread the word! I believe they deserve to be more well known outside of their home country, but sadly I doubt it will happen unless they start singing in english or something--even their chosen band name might be too formidable for some.

People are always bitching about what is and isn't on metal archives...... it's not a fucking representational democracy over there, the guys who run the site decide what they will include. Regardless of everyone's petty gripes about it, it is still BY FAR the best and most comprehensive metal resource site on the net.

Time Requiem - Yeah, it is about the nerdiest metal I have ever heard, but I still like it.

Aww, too bad. I was hoping for more additions to the "alternative" section of my collection.

still, its a very anti-punk site. lots of Crossover and Grind bands get omitted for being too "punk". as a punker, this offends me very much.
